PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF MEMORIAL PARK AND PRIVATE CEMETERY ON PTN 50 OF FARM 821, BCMM, EASTERN CAPE- DRAFT BASIC ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR PUBLIC REVIEW (DEDEAT REF: EC/7/A/LN1,LN3/M/25-30)

Indwe Environmental Consulting has been appointed by CapeVest Investments Pty Ltd as an independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner to undertake a Basic Assessment Process in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998), for the Proposed Development and Operation of a Memorial Park and Private Cemetery on PTN 50 of Farm 821 within BCMM in the Eastern Cape.
 
The Draft Basic Assessment Report has been submitted to DEDEAT (Amathole Region) and the Public Review period for the report will run from 16 February 2026 to 18 March 2026.

PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF OAKWOOD CHICKEN BROILER HOUSES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POULTRY WITHIN AMAHLATHI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, AMATHOLE DISTRICT, EASTERN CAPE

Indwe Environmental Consulting has been appointed by ANCA Foods (Pty) Ltd as the Professional Service Provider (PSP) to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (Act 107 of 1998) for the proposed construction of the Oakwood Chicken Broiler Houses for the production of poultry occurring within the Amahlathi Local Municipality, Amathole District, Eastern Cape. The project will include two sites with the construction of eight broiler houses per site.

The proposed Oakwood Chicken Broiler Houses will occur 3.5 km south-east of Stutterheim in the Eastern Cape. The precise co-ordinates of two broiler sites are 32°35’34.79″S, 27°27’29.18″E; and 32°36’18.26″S, 27°28’22.40″E, respectively, within the Amahlathi Local Municipality. The proposed broiler houses will be constructed on erven 546, 547, 548, 549,550, 551, 552, and 2235. These properties are owned by the Applicant. In terms of access to the proposed sites, existing gravel roads are available. The main watercourse in the area, the Kubusi River (perennial watercourse), acts as the cadastral boundary of the properties that the project falls on.

The Draft Basic Assessment Report is available and ready for public review commencing from 13 October 2025. WATER USE LICENCE APPLICATION FOR PEDDIE MOTORS DEVELOPMENT ON ERF 13070, PEDDIE, EASTERN CAPE (DWS REF: WU24106)

Indwe Environmental Consulting was appointed by Imperium Developments on behalf of Purple Rain Properties No. 63 Pty Ltd to assist in certain technical and public participation activities associated with their Water Use Licence Application process to the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) in terms of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998), on ERF 13070, in Peddie in the Eastern Cape (DWS REF: WU24106).

Purple Rain Properties No.63 Pty Ltd are currently applying for a Water Use Licence after a Notice of Intention to Issue a Directive was received from the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) regarding the Peddie Motors development undertaking water use activities without a water use licence. The development involved the revamping of the Peddie Motors Fuel station that included other amenities, including but not limited to a KFC, Steers, Debonairs and an OK Express, which occurred within the DWS/ NWA 100m regulated area of a watercourse. In addition, abstraction via a borehole positioned at 33°11’40.33″S; 27° 7’9.53″E was installed which also falls within the DWS/ NWA 100m regulated area of a watercourse. The borehole supply is for the purpose of backup sanitation provision.

The water use activities being undertaken include:

  • Section 21(a)- “taking water from a water resource
  • Section 21(c)- “impeding or diverting the flow of water in a watercourse”
  • Section 21(i)- “altering the bed, banks, course or characteristics of a watercourse”

 

A public participation process is required under Section 15 and in terms of Section 41(4) of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998) and is guided under Regulation no 17 of the Regulation regarding the Procedural Requirement for Water Use Licence Applications and Appeals 2017 (GG 40713).
